ADASI to use drones to detect pipeline leaks and for other infrastructure surveying purposes across powerlines, construction sites and oil and gas fields, among other industries

Dubai-UAE: 18 November, 2019 – ADASI, the regional leader in autonomous systems and services, today signed a contract with SwissDrones, a high-tech company based in Switzerland, that specialises in the development and production of UAVs for superior endurance in critical unmanned aerial applications.

The partnership will allow ADASI to integrate other payloads on SwissDrones SDO-50V2, and exclusively sell the drone within the UAE. Once activated and deployed for use, the drones will be used across a variety of industries including the oil and gas and construction sectors, as well as for infrastructure surveying purposes – enabling companies to safely and efficiently survey and manage assets.

Ali Al Yafei, CEO of ADASI, inked the agreement with Lukas Obrist, Interim CEO of SwissDrones Operating AG, on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow taking place at Dubai World Central until 21 November.

Al Yafei said: “We are delighted to enter into this partnership with SwissDrones, and to be able to exclusively promote the small drone within the UAE. We see this as an opportunity to continue employing the latest technologies to give our customers the edge, and ensure that our partners excel in their field.”

For his part, Obrist said: “We are honoured to have signed this agreement with ADASI, and are confident that this relationship will advance the development of the autonomous and special mission systems industry in the UAE.”

SwissDrones has indicated that it will collaborate with ADASI on the SDO 50 V2 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) model – the only UAV in the market that is capable of lifting more payload than its own empty weight. The SDO 50 V2 VTOL boasts impressive specs, easy operability – requiring only a two-person crew – and readiness to fly in just 15 minutes. Furthermore, its compact configuration allows users to easily transport it in an SUV.

In addition to surveillance, security, and search and rescue operations, ADASI aims to utilise the devices for civil and military applications in the UAE that will position the company at the forefront of the technology domain.

ADASI is part of the Platforms & Systems cluster within EDGE, an advanced technology company for defence and beyond, that was inaugurated in November 2019.

SwissDrones’s strategic focus is on governmental, defence and public safety applications.
